Twins’ Minor League Updates

La Velle E. Neal III (Star Tribune) posted a blog today with some Minnesota Twins’ minor league updates.

The first update: La Velle reports that right hander Johan Pino has been promoted to Class AAA Rochester.  Pino has spent time in the bullpen as well as in the starting rotation at AA New Britain, with an ERA of 3.19 and 5-1 record.

The second update: Max Kepler, the 16 year old German outfielder the Twins signed earlier this month, was in Fort Myers, Fla. last week to meet the staff and look for a place to go to school.  Kepler is only 16, and his parents are looking for the best situation for him.  Although his mom currently resides in Texas, his parents may elect for him to go to school near the Twins complex to participate in some instructional play.

The last update: The Twins were expected to meet with first-round pick Kyle Gibson this week to discuss a contract.  Apparently, Gibson is looking for a contract that is paid closer to where he was ranked vs where he was selected.  La Velle believes they should eventually come to terms.
