La Velle E. Neal III (Star Tribune) reports Minnesota Twins’ third baseman Joe Crede and pitcher Glen Perkins had encouraging reports from shoulder specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum. Both of the player’s shoulders came out negative, but Crede was diagnosed with an inflamed AC joint, and reportedly received a cortisone shot.
Crede is awaiting an MRI report that will show the extent of the shoulder injury. Depending on the seriousness of his injury, Crede could possibly be placed on the DL.
Perkins received medication for the slight tendinitis he has in his shoulder and will make his next start on Monday against the White Sox. The lefthander had already spent time on the DL last month.
Note: La Velle has some trade talk! “The Twins, indeed, have spoken with Oakland about shortstop Orlando Cabrera but it doesn’t seem like a deal is close. That could change at any time, especially as the July 31 trade deadline nears.”
